Keeping Ourselves Healthy

This thought has been on my mind for a while. I went to KFC with some work colleagues recently. It had been about 2 years since I went to KFC before that. I ordered the perfunctory fries, chicken and Tropicana.

Now, I was under the impression that Tropicana was like Fruta so I drank that. I didn't know that it was regular soda. I stopped drinking soda a few years ago.

Within an hour of having lunch I had a MASSIVE headache and couldn't figure out what the cause was. It then dawned on me that it was the Tropicana. It was just regular soda.

The thing is, I used to drinking soda like crazy when I was younger. In recent years I became more health conscious and I stopped. The thing is, now that I have stopped, I am a lot more healthier and my body can no longer tolerate it and it make me sick.

Someone offered my a bottle of soda some months ago. I took a sip and INSTANTLY felt sick! With the KFC soda, I have food in my stomach and so it took some time to go through my system.

I have absolutely no intention of eating at KFC ever again. They would have to radically change their menu. And I sure that the menu presented in the States is different from that in Jamaica (because Americans are more health conscious). If they did not, they would not make any money.

I have tried to live as healthy a life as possible over the past few years. I used to drink cups of coffee a day. I stopped drinking coffee in 1997.

I try to eat healthily and excercise when ever I can. I cut down on the junk food.

I think I really need to pick up back basketball. I used to get incredible workouts on the court.

Here is the thing: The way I see it, there is no point in living life anyway we want right now, then have to have triple-bypass surgery when we hit 45.

God has given us one body and we should take care of it. Our bodies are the temple of the Lord and we shoudld respect it as such and not put junk in it. We would be the ones to pay the price later anyway.

I had a medical condition that I was born with (it wasn't impotence), and for years I prayed that the Lord would heal me. He has healed me of other things. But HE didn't - at least not the way that I thought He would. It so happens that as my diet changed the condition went away completely.

In his book, "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You To Know About", Kevin Trudeau the many ways that we canprevent and REVERSE disease simply by changing our diet and our lifestyles. He also outlines how the US Food and Drug Administration approve dozens drugs every year that are ineffective and come with dangerous side effects. The drug companies now that the drugs don't work but it all boils don't to one thing: Money.

These drug companies make billions of dollars every years.

I only got to leaf through the book, but I want to get a copy and read it thoroghly. He even mentions that using microwave machines changes the chemical make-up of foods making them totally USELESS to our bodies.

I got the flu some time ago and got some Zion Roots and felt much better almost immediately. So the next day I went and got some Centrum Multivitamins as I felt that I needed a vitamin boost. I took ONE pill and IT MADE ME SICK!!! I got a massive headache all day and I know it was the Centrum. The pills were not expired or tainted or anything like that. The deal is that I am so healthy now that my body rejects all synthetic foods - EVEN VITAMINS!!! Just think about that for a second - I AM SO HEALTHY RIGHT NOW THAT VITAMINS MADE ME VIOLENTLY SICK BECAUSE IT IS SYNTHETIC.

It may cost more to eat healthily than to not do so, but the benefits are far greater in the long run.

The Goodness of Almighty God!

I am grateful to God for His goodness and grace towards me. He forgives my sins and heals me.

I thank Him for the job that He has blessed me with.

I am thankful to God for what He will do in my life. I thank Him for the car and the house that He will bless me with and the beautiful and wonderful woman of God that He will bless me with as a wife. :)

The Lord never ceases to amaze me. To be in God is to be lost in a maze in grace!

I am truly blessed and highly favoured by the Lord God Almighty.

Hallelujah!!!

Sean Hannity and Fox News

So, Sean Hannity says his will outline on Sunday the top 10 reasons why people should not vote for Obama.

Gone are the days when you could tune in to the main stream news media in the States and actually get news. Today, what we get is Republicans like Sean Hannity and Fox News (which claims to be fair and balanced) attacking Barak Obama and pushing their Republican agenda.

How can an individual employed to a "news" station go on air and tell people that they are not to vote for a particular person as President of their country - whoever that person may be. Where does this "journalist" go off seeking to affect the outcome a Presidential Election by telling people that they are not to vote for a candidate. And then Americans pride themselves in spreading democracy to the world when democracy does not exist in their own country (as evidenced by the high number of anti-Bush voters who were not allowed to vote in the last 2 elections).

In many parts of the world, Jamaica included, such a "journalist" would be looking for another job already. America is different. Yes, I believe in freedom of speech, but freedom of speech comes with responsibility (that is why persons can be easily sued for what they say in America where freedom of speech is such a big deal).

Of course, this just confirms what we already know, the mainstream news media in the States are not about presenting news, but rather putting on a show for entertainment purposes and ratings.

Yes, the U.S. Presidential Elections is a big deal, indeed we are following it closely here in Jamaica, but it would seem that since the start of campaigning absolutely nothing has taken place in the States other that what the candidates are doing and things associated with the Elections.

Since campaigning has begun, not one person has been killed in America, no one has won a lottery, on one was raped, and there has been not been a single road fatality. I find that remarkable!

The U.S. should have Presidential Elections more often! Like once every two years.

Wagonists!!!!

So, many people have written the Reggae Boyz off regarding World Cup 2010. Now that there seems to be a glimmer of hope many persons are jump on the World Cup band wagon.

I expect Jamaica to win the next World Cup qualifier, just as I expected them to win the last two.

I believe that God is doing a great thing in putting Jamaica on the map once again. And Jamaica making it to the World Cup finals will be just a continuation of what took place in the Beijing.

Now, Theodore Whitmore replaced Brazilian Rene Simoes as coach of the Reggae Boyz. He has won 2 crucial games as coach. After the next one John Barnes will take over.

I am curious, why is it that we cultivate this culture in Jamaica in which we choose to pay foreigners ridiculous amounts of money to do what Jamaicans are more than capable of doing (as Mr. Whitmore has shown).

I am sure that Theodore is not getting anything near to millions of dollars that the Professor was getting nor what John Barnes will be getting, even though he has delivered the goods.

Haven't we learnt anything from what our local coaches did in Beijing with our locally trained athletes? Anywho...

Jamaica's Children Under Attack

The woman in the white is the mother of 11 year-old Anana Dean (pictured in the middle).

In recent months we have seen an unprecedented attack on the children in Jamaica.

We have heard of babies being burnt to death after being left alone at home while their mothers are at some dance.

We have heard of children as young as 13 being shot by the police and then hear the cut and paste story about shootout.

And recently a 9 month old BABY died at hospital after being rape by a relative.

If a child goes missing, there is a very high probability that he or she will make the news a week later as another murder statistic.

This madness has got to stop.

We who are Christians know that there are demonic forces behind it all, and we have to do whatever God would have us to do to see a change in the scenario.

Aside from that though, there is also a culture norm that is also a part of the problem. As a nation we have become far too callous. Nothing shocks us anymore. Hearing about death and murder is literally an everyday occurrence. And as one who used to work as a news reporter, I am in no way suggesting that the media cover things up.

Life in Jamaica has become so cheap and the suffering of other people just does not us. There is no respect for the rights of other people, and that is a big part of why we treat people the way we do.

When some of us hear that some woman was gang raped, it is seen as a big joke, and that is just disgusting. I am tired of what is happening Jamaica. If a huge earthquake like what happened in Port Royal is what it will take to change things, then dear God, so be it.

JUTC

I took a JUTC bus from Half-Way-Tree to work this morning. I will never make that mistake again.

This bus took the scenic route to Naggo Head - twice the distance and twice the time. I though the bus would have gone through the toll.

I almost took my cell phone to my work area this morning. I was late and was hurrying. The security guard picked it up with the metal detecting wand after I went through the metal detector.

Dancing With The Stars

The beautiful and dashing Kim Kardashian got the boot after only three weeks on Dancing With The Stars.

I thought she would have lasted much longer. But, I guess the type of people who would normally watch her other "reality" performances are not the type to watch DWTS.

I love DWTS!!!

It seems stars are fighting to get on the show. It seems to be a career booster for rising stars and faded stars.

For me, the best season was season one, when Kelly Monaco took the title from John O'Hurley. She deserved to win.

Political Catfight!

Well it seems that the gloves are off in the US Presidential race.

The McCain Camp were the first to pounce, accusing Obama of consorting with a terrorist.

It's crunch time and McCain is down in the polls. A drowning man will always clutch at straws.

I'm seeing a different side to the cute and cuddly Sarah Palin. She is starting to show her claws and get a bit catty. The Obama camp isn't exactly taking things lying down and we will all see how things play out in the coming days.

And the 2008 Digicel Rising Star is...

Well, Jamaicans got it right last night when they made the Denham Town Princess, Cameal Davis, the 2008 Digicel Rising Star.

I kinda thought that all those teenage girls with their cell phones would have put Kahlil over the top. Thankfully, good sense prevailed.

I would like to use this opportunity to rubbish all arguments that Cameal won because she is a woman, and persons felt that it was time for a woman to win. She won because of her talent, plain and simple.

Kahlil fell down in the final performance show. Before then I thought they would have won.

Cameal deserved to win!!!

Big up!!!!

Some people may disagree with me, but I think Cameal's version is much better than Jennifer Hudson's.

Vice-Presidential Debate

I think that Senator Biden did a better job than Governor Palin in the Vice-Presidential Debate. The Debate was a lot less acrimonious than the McCain-Obama debate.

Digicel Rising Stars

Big up to Cameal Davis. I hope she wins Digicel Rising Stars 2K8.
If the public vote based on the last perfomances, she will win by a landslide. But, of course, we know that people don't always vote based on talent.

And big up to the Rising Stars back-up singers. They were great! A wonderful addition the the show.

The live music was a great idea as well. I love the fact that they added a gospel section to the show this year.

And, of course, everyone can get their fill of Yendi Phillips!!!

Still prefered Denise Hunt though. :)

Tami Chynn

Kudos to Tami Chynn on the new Pepsi in which she appears and sings. Love you Tami.
